The Florida Virtual Academy—the only K¹² Certified School in the state—combines the accountability of public schooling with the highest-quality distance-learning curriculum available today, providing an innovative, highly effective education for Florida students.

Florida Virtual Academy (FLVA) is a state-approved public online school. The curriculum is provided by K¹², and is accessed via an Online School (OLS) as well as through more traditional methods, with materials—including books, CDs, and even rocks and dirt—delivered right to the family's doorstep.

Parents and students are assigned their own highly qualified, state-certified teacher to help guide and track their progress through the curriculum. There are regular face-to-face meetings as well.

Eligibility Requirements

The Florida Virtual Academy accepts eligible students in kindergarten through eighth grade who reside in Florida. Admission to the school is based on age and completion and submission of all enrollment forms and materials. All kindergarten and grade 1 students, students entering grades two through eight who were previously enrolled in a Florida Public School in October 2006 and February 2007 FTE counts, and siblings of returning FLVA students are welcome to apply and complete our placement tests. At Florida Virtual Academy, assessments are integral tools for gathering information about students' progress, strengths, and weaknesses in order to provide the best possible education.
